"She who steals cars"
....... Nooooooooo, I didn't steal (my version is borrow) 2 cars in 2 days.
Not sweet little innocent old me!
Here goes the story.....
My first night here I was told to drive a certain ute back to camp. It was old and crusty and it did the job. Now I assumed that this vehicle was for the geology departments use.
(I was told we have a new vehicle - with only 4455km on the clock - but I thought this was a joke!)
So when I woke up in the morning, I took it back to the rig (and I gave a couple of guys a lift - the good samaritan that I am).
Well, about 45minutes after I arrived at the rig, in walks this overweight sweating beast of a man.
Swearing and cursing and carrying on like a mother fuc*er.
Whoops, turns out I took his car, and the poor bastard had to walk.
Now the second car stealing story is a bit of a grey area......
It was 20 minutes after knock off time yesterday, and I had just done my handover to my offsider. I called up the Geologist and asked for a lift back to camp. "No worries, I'll be
10 minutes". I waited in the unit for about 5 minutes, then wandered over to the car. Waiting waiting waiting, by this stage it's about 45 minutes after I knocked off, and the kitchen was going to close in about 15- 20 minutes. 3 of the rig crew wandered over to me, they had missed the crew wagon and wanted a lift. So we are all waiting waiting waiting for the slow arse geologist.
Eventually I got fed up with frigging waiting, and thought I'd just take 5 minutes to run the guys back. We'd been waiting so long already, what were the odds that the geo would be ready before I drove back.
100% it seems.
On my way to taking the boys to the camp - we ran into the crew wagon coming the other way - apparently to pick up the guys who got left behind. I flagged him down and asked him to grab the geo and the mud doctor, since he was going that way already, and I'd just park the car at camp.
Well.........
I had let the boys out and was just about to park, then I thought I'd better make sure that the geo had actually been picked up by the crew wagon. So off I go down the road in our shiny new vehicle. The crew wagon passed me again, and I saw that the geo was in it, so I pulled a u ie and followed them back to camp.
Do you think I heard the geo bitching and carrying on about having to drive for 5 minutes in the crew wagon.
Arrrggghhhhh...........
Well, I am now known as "she who steals cars".
I'm frigging walking from now on.........
